CEO, Co-founder

Magdalene Ho PhD

Translating disruptive innovations into accessible healthcare. Dr. Magdalene Ho has been pioneering Traxion Biotech’s patented technology since her MEng through her PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, supported by an EPSRC iCASE studentship with ConvaTec and the Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851 Industrial Fellowship. Her research has been recognised with the June Wilson Award for excellence in biomaterials and she has gained industry and research experience across Singapore, Switzerland, the UK, and the US, including at Novartis R&D. Building on over six years of translational research and cross-sector collaboration, Magdalene founded Traxion Biotech to make advanced wound healing more effective, affordable, and accessible. Passionate about bridging academia and industry, she continues to lead the company’s mission to bring scientific innovation to real-world patient care.

CTO, Co-founder

Benjamin Almquist PhD FIMMM

Transforming scientific breakthroughs into real-world healing technologies. Dr. Ben Almquist is an Associate Professor in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3), and inventor of Traxion Biotech's platform technology. With over 20 years of experience in biomaterials, nanotechnology, and regenerative medicine, he has secured competitive funding from UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) and the Wellcome Trust to advance the platform technology. Ben is the co-director of Imperial’s Network of Excellence in Wound Repair and directs the Biomedical Technology Ventures Programme, fostering collaboration between engineers, clinicians, and entrepreneurs. At Traxion Biotech, Ben drives the company’s scientific and technical strategy - advancing the platform technology toward clinically and commercially impactful wound-care solutions.

Clinical Lead

Sara Flod MD

Connecting surgical insight with innovation in regenerative healing Dr Sara Flod is a clinician with experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery and direct insight into wound care and regenerative medicine. While completing Core Surgical Training in Plastic- and Reconstructive Surgery at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, she also earned an MSc in Surgical Innovation at Imperial College and served as a BiteLabs Fellow. She is now pursuing her PhD in Bioengineering at Imperial College London, advancing Traxion Biotech's technology for meaningful patient impact.

Clinical Advisor

Prof Shehan Hettiaratchy OBE 

Championing patient-centred innovation in trauma and reconstructive surgery. Professor Hettiaratchy OBE is a Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, Director of Major Trauma at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and Professor of Practice at Imperial College London. An international leader in trauma and reconstructive surgery, he has led national trauma responses and serves as the National Specialty Adviser on Armed Forces Health to the NHS. He has also founded Op RESTORE, the UK’s national physical health service for veterans and established traum@IC, Imperial’s multidisciplinary trauma research network linking clinicians, academics, and policymakers. Prof. Hettiaratchy was appointed an OBE in 2025 for his services to UK's emergency health response overseas. At Traxion Biotech, he provides strategic clinical guidance to ensure innovations meet real-world patient and healthcare needs.

Steve Bishop

Driving innovation from the laboratory to global wound-care markets, Steve brings over 30 years of leadership experience in advanced wound care, having successfully delivered over 30 advanced wound care products to market. He previously served as Vice President R&D for Advanced Wound Care at Convatec Group plc, where he led global innovation initiatives and launched award-winning products such as AQUACEL® Ag+ Extra dressing. He also played a key role in the integration of Triad Life Sciences into Convatec, expanding their biologics portfolio. He is now a partner at Balanced Design Consultancy Ltd, working on the innovation, design and development of new medical device products for market launch. At Traxion Biotech, Steve leverages his wealth of experience to lead Traxion's commercial and regulatory strategy.
